veil ||: apophantic triptychs - an explorational search for the truth
This excerpt was born out of the series “[p] veil - concealed or revealed ?” which in itself evolved from my ongoing experiments with [P]olaroids tracing their development from the latent / veiled image to the final visible.
I see this series of images as a composition, whereby the ‘light’ of the figures is the vigour balancing the darkness around them. It is the synergy between truth and imagination.
The notion of finding "the truth" is at the core of my exploration.
The dichotomy between the visible and the invisible, the real and the imaginary, is "disturbed" through the gradual abstraction of the images and the interplay between the perceptional and cognitional revelations and concealments.
I do work with metaphors. The veil can be a physical, but also a mental or imaginary one. The veil needs to be exposed, lifted, revealed, however that remains the task of the viewers perceptions.
The appearances of the images and any similarity to persons living or dead is purely coincidental and intentional.
